Our theme for the month of May was lines and our highlight guest @vironica was chosen by Janet Douglas of @wiredtothemoon.

I caught up with @vironica to find out a little more about her.

Tell us a bit about yourself?  and  Are you a hobbyist or a pro?

Thank you so much! I am so honored to be this month’s guest feature. ! I’m a hobbyist photographer living in Corona del Mar, CA with my husband and three boys. Shortly before the birth of my son I got my first DSLR. However, I wasn’t actively trying to learn photography until after he was born in October 2011. Beyond photography I enjoy reading, eating out, coffee and chocolate.

1 -baby

I love this image because of the light and connection between all my boys.

Tell us a bit about your photography gear.  What is the lens do you not have but you desire to have the most?

I’m a Canon shooter. I have to admit that I’m a lens hoarder. If I have to choose only one lens to keep I would pick my Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L ii. I used to be a prime shooter but the 24-70mm is so versatile that it’s on my camera 90% of the time. On my wish list is the Canon EF 24mm f/1.4L ii. I use my 35mm for underwater photography but I’ve been wanting a wider angle which the 24mm would be perfect for.

2 - wall

I just love the storytelling quality of this image.

What makes you pick up the camera when you don’t feel like it?

Looking through photos and videos of my boys when they were younger. Those memories kept on reminding me about the importance of capturing the fleeting moments of their childhood.

3- train tracks

This image captured my older boys perfectly at their ages. They love this wooden train set so much.

Film or digital? Black and white or color? Lifestyle or traditional?

Digital. I have a film camera that I have yet to use. I love both black and white and color. Most of the time I keep my images in color but occasionally black and white can make an image more powerful. I’m a lifestyle photographer at heart. Beautiful light, lines, colors, and connection makes my heart sings.

4 walrus

I love the moment and connection in this one.

What personal projects are you working?

Currently I am working on the 100 Days of Summer, both stills and video to put together in the end.

5 - new baby

This is an image that I will treasure forever. The first time my older boys meet their baby brother.

Most important thing you learned about editing.

I learned that I prefer a clean edit on my images. I feel that a clean edit is always timeless. I also learned that I love a lot of contrast on my images.

6 - beach ball

My most recent favorite. I love the joy in their faces while playing together.
