Stephanie of Flowergirl Photography was the featured artist for the November theme {Silhouette}.  I took some time to reach out to Stephanie to learn a little bit more about her.  Now so can you.

Tell a bit about yourself:

My name is Stephanie Rogers, I live in a small logging town in North Idaho with my husband of ten years & our 8 year old son and 5 year old daughter.

We have this gorgeous tree in our front year that blooms these beautiful pink flowers every spring. If you drive by my house, you will often find me out in my yard taking pictures of my plants, I think my neighbors have grown used to it, haha!

Are you hobbyist or pro?

I started out in photography as just a hobbyist, but turned pro about 5 years ago. My first dslr was a Nikon d3100. I now shoot with a Nikon d7100,which I love but hope to go full frame soon!

Winter can be such a fun time for photography! My daughter hates the cold though so it requires extra bribery for her to pose for me!

What makes you pick up the camera when you don’t feel like it?

When I’m feeling burnt out with client work, I always make time to capture images that are just for me. My favorite way to destress is to take my camera & head to the woods. Just me, my camera, and God. Nature photography is what drew me into the photography world to start with!

I love this image because it captures the sweetness of my daughter after a lazy morning in bed.

Film or digital?

Digital is all I know. I love the history that goes with film though, it’s something I would love to learn more of down the road.

Black & white or color?

Oh man-black & white or color? That definitely depends on the image, but I adore black & white! Sometimes it brings out the emotion of the photo so much better.

This image is a great example of a personal moment I took when I was knee deep in Autumn family sessions.

Lifestyle or traditional?

I love a mixture of both! You need posed portraits for your walls & Christmas cards-but the lifestyle moments are where the magic happens!

I love this image of my son on one of our camping trips! That flamingo was a huge hit!

What personal projects are you working on?

I just finished my first dslr 365 project in 2018, and have decided to do it again in 2019! It’s not easy, but looking back at what I captured through out the year makes it all worth it!

This images is one of my favorites from last summer! It was an un-posed moment of fun!

Most important thing you learned about editing?

Never stop learning. And don’t be afraid to try new things! I have always used Lightroom for my editing, which I love and still use for every edit. But my resolution last year was to learn Photoshop-a whole new world opened up to me! I can now make magic happen in ways I couldn’t before.

Thank you Stephanie for sharing a bit more about yourself.

Don’t forget that this month we have the {Wide} theme and we are looking forward to seeing your beautiful images.   Tag us at #sharesix_wide.  This is the perfect time to capture those gorgeous wide open images.
