Kathy of KG Ledbetter Photography chose the theme Shadows for the month of March and we had an amazing response.  Out of all of the Facebook and Instragram images Kathy chose our banner image submitted by Jordan Voigt Photography.   I connected with Jordan to learn a little bit more about her.

Tell us a bit about yourself?  and  Are you a hobbyist or a pro?

Hi, I’m Jordan! I am a hobbyist photographer who appreciates all things in the creative industry. Born and raised in South Georgia, married to my high school sweetheart. We have two beautiful little girls and expecting a baby boy this summer. As long as I can remember I have looked at things differently and always had a camera in my hand. I enjoy documenting the beauty in the everyday.

My husband is a pilot so our whole family has developed a love for airplanes.  I took this image at a fly-in recently.  We sat under the wing and ate lunch as the planes went by.  I just adore everything about this one!

Tell us a bit about your photography gear.  What is the lens do you not have but you desire to have the most?

Currently in my camera bag I have a Canon 6D, Sigma Art 35mm 1.4 and Canon 50mm 1.4 lens. I am hoping to add the Canon 15mm fisheye lens to by bag soon!

2 (1)

Oh the sunflares!,  I try to push myself and capture our ordinary moments in extraordinary ways.  I love looking at things differently that might normally get passed over.

How did your journey to be a photographer happen?

My journey as a photographer began very early when I was a child, even when all I had was a disposable camera! I have always taken pictures and documented.

3

Self portraits are like therapy to me.  If I am ever going through a creative rut, I know what will help pull me out.

 Who inspires you?

Oh where do I begin? I get inspiration from everywhere! There are so many incredible creatives out there that blow my mind everyday! A lot of my inspiration comes from my family and capturing our story.

4

It is very important to me that everyone gets in the frame.  I want our story to be documented honestly.  We were there too!

What advice would you share to the aspirants in this field?

I would say never give up and just keep shooting. Being a creative has MANY highs and lows. You will question yourself at  times and go through ruts, but the highs make it all worth it. Everyone is on a different journey and never compare yours to someone else.

5 (1)

Reflections and Black and Whites get me every time!

One thing that you have learnt as a photographer over the years?

Sometimes you need to put the camera down and just enjoy the moment. You can get so wrapped up in trying to get the perfect shot and miss what is really happening!

It’s spring time here.  Most of our afternoons look like this.  I love the light and movement in this capture.

If you are interested in seeing more of Jordan’s work, I would encourage you to check out Jordan’s facebook page.  You will love it.

Shadows was the theme this month, and you all submitted amazing images and we thank you for being a part of this group and sharing what speaks to you on the theme.  There were a lot of images to choose from this month and it was not easy.

Kathy of KG Ledbetter Photography chose the theme and the image  that spoke to her the most.  The image to be guest highlighted this month was submitted by Jordan Voigt Photography.  Kathy shared these thoughts on the Jordan’s image:

I love everything about this image! The light coming in the window, the amazing reflection, the tones, and of course the child that in the center. It is so balanced with all the elements. It is simple yet striking.

We encourage you to go and visit Jordan’s page, you will love it.  Don’t forget to leave her some love. Click on the image below to get to Jordan’s Facebook page.

Both light and shadow are the dance of love ~ Rumi

This month’s theme has been chosen by Kathy Ledbetter of KG Ledbetter Photography and it is SHADOWS.

Here is Kathy’s reasons for why she chose shadows:

“There is a rhythm in life, a certain beauty which operates by a variation of lights and shadows, happiness alternating with sorrow, content with discontent, distilling in this process of contrast a sense of satisfaction, of richness that can be captured and pinned down only by those who possess the gift of awareness.” ~Louis Bromfield

I love high contrast moody images with pockets of light. They inspire to me to continue to find the light and capture it beautifully. I can’t wait to see how everyone captures light and
SHADOW this month!
